The Therapy Process: What You Can Expect

Therapy is not a one-size-fits-all approach. We tailor each session to your unique needs, helping you develop the tools necessary to navigate life’s challenges. While every journey is different, most clients initially attend 6 to 8 sessions to experience meaningful progress.

Your First Session: Understanding Your Needs

In our initial session, we’ll complete a comprehensive intake assessment covering:

  • Personal background and history
  • Current challenges and goals
  • Strengths, internal resources, and external support systems
  • Environmental factors influencing your well-being

This allows us to create a personalized plan to help you achieve real, lasting change.

Ongoing Sessions: Making Progress

After the first session, we’ll schedule follow-up appointments to dive deeper into the work. Each session will focus on:

  • Identifying thought patterns and behaviors holding you back
  • Developing strategies for stress management and emotional regulation
  • Strengthening your confidence and sense of self
  • Setting actionable goals for long-term progress

How to Get Started

Starting therapy is simple. Follow these steps to begin:

Step 1: Contact Us

Call 512-387-5933, email marco.villegas@kmfcounselingsolutions.com, or fill out the contact form to schedule a consultation or brief phone call (15–20 minutes) to determine if we’re the right fit.

Step 2: Register & Complete Forms

After scheduling, you’ll receive a Welcome Email with a link to our secure practice portal. Complete the required forms online before your first session.

Step 3: Attend Your Appointment

Show up at the scheduled time, ready to begin your journey toward growth and healing.

Rates & Insurance Information

Session Fees

  • $130 – Initial intake assessment (first session)
  • $120 – 55-minute individual therapy sessions
  • $65 – Missed sessions or late cancellations

    If your insurance is out-of-network, we can provide you with a monthly billing statement for potential reimbursement. Contact your health insurance provider and ask about coverage for an “out-of-network mental health provider.”

    During your first session, we’ll also review:

    Having these forms completed ensures a smooth start to therapy.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    1. How long does therapy take?

    While every individual is different, most clients see progress within 6 to 8 sessions. Some may benefit from longer-term therapy depending on their goals and needs.

    2. What if I’ve never been to therapy before?

    That’s completely okay! Our first session is all about understanding your needs and helping you feel comfortable. Therapy is a conversation, not an interrogation.

    3. Do you offer virtual sessions?

    Yes! We provide both in-person and online therapy sessions for clients in Austin, TX, and surrounding areas.

    4. What happens if I need to cancel a session?

    Life happens. If you need to cancel, please provide at least 24 hours’ notice to avoid a cancellation fee.
